SOS X/N Hot Fixes [APR.16 – HOT FIX 5]

Downloads at the bottom.

As this ROM grows, more and more potential for errors arises. Since the new ROM is quite heavy and a pain to download, I will be releasing “Hot Fixes” to help those in need.

Please watch the video above for instructions.

    • No plans on getting that phone. Sorry. If I happened to get one, I’m sure I would 😉

Why don’t you make a donation Page or blog or something so that people who do want you to swag out the s2 can give you money so you can get it.

I’m getting the s3 whenever it comes out and I certainly wouldn’t mind throwing down so you can get one and hook it up!

        April 22, 2012 at 2:08 PM

      • I’ll be honest, I don’t plan on getting the S2 or S3.

So I tried to remap the browser icon to the app, but the tweaks app fc’s as the button is pressed. (SOS X 2.09 deodexed) I’ve applied the hot fixes before flashing.

    Using 2.09 odexed

I can install sosx just fine, but none of the hot fixes will install. Hotfix 1 and 2 will open but fail to load the kernel. After a reboot, it locks up at the EVO 4g screen. The other two won’t even open. Any suggestions?

    April 12, 2012 at 9:26 PM

  8. Ariel

I did the hotfix 1 but the hotfix 2,3,and 4 all said that The files already existed. So what do I do? please please help.

this rom is epic!! thank you!! well worth the wait.
Any way to remove the battery icon maybe in a future release? with battery bar its just taking up extra space..this rom has it removed, though I dont know if it would be easy to integrate into tweaks..maybe just another status bar option in aroma?
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550526

    thanks again!!

I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your rom is the most amazing thing it ever happen to my evo 4g after the extended battery

  13. Fred

do you need to delete any files for hotfix 4? how do we know if we simply replace them or need to delete old file first for this and future hotfixes?

    April 13, 2012 at 8:23 AM

    • You won’t need to delete anymore files… Just copy em over. 🙂

      April 15, 2012 at 9:30 AM

  14. jediknight36

I’ve tried commenting several times. I have tried to install the Hotfixs. 1 & 2 will open but fail to load the kernel. After a reboot, it locks up at the EVO 4g screen. The other two won’t even open. Any suggestions? Running odex 2.09. Was able to install 2.0.4.

    April 13, 2012 at 11:07 AM

    • You have to add them to the ROM and then re-install the ROM. It sounds like you are attempting to run these as flashable .zips. You could just try using 2.0.9.4 (it has the hotfixes integrated).

Yea, that’s what I figured. Working great now! Love it!

Does 2.0.9.4 include hotfix #5? thanks guys, you guys are awesome

    April 16, 2012 at 2:04 PM

  16. Funny_Town_Pics

Does 2.0.9.4 include hot fix 5? i’m guessing no? you guys rock btw

    April 16, 2012 at 2:04 PM

    • Funny_Town_Pics

Also, do i Just copy over the files from hotfix 5 to 2.0.9.4 and rezip it, then re-flash?

      April 16, 2012 at 2:24 PM

  17. mike

ok, from the video and what i can make of the instructions:
    1. download the ROM.
    2. open in winzip
    3. open hot fix 1
    4. delete the two dirs dockxo and sbnpxo from the ROM
    5. copy the two dirs dockxo and sbnpxo from the Hotfix 1 zip file to the ROM.
    6. Do not copy the Meta-INF directory to the ROM.
    7. copy all of the files from hotfix2 to the ROM, no deletions.
    8. copy all of the files from hotfix3 to the ROM, no deletions.
    9. copy all of the files from hotfix4 to the ROM, no deletions.
    10. copy all of the files from hotfix5 to the ROM, no deletions.

    April 16, 2012 at 5:08 PM

    • If you guys are starting with 2.0.9.4 then you only need to add Hot Fix 5. Remember, you can’t unzip these files everyone.

      April 19, 2012 at 1:25 PM

  18. Hey REALLY like the Sense ROM…swype worked initially, but has stopped working…did a Google search, but could find no reference to solution…don’t tweet enough to be able to communicate…any suggestions?…lost without swype

    April 17, 2012 at 1:57 PM

  20. miasma

Just flashed 2.0.9.4 with hotfix 5 applied. What should I try if voicemail app keeps force closing?

    April 18, 2012 at 8:25 AM

    • miasma

Disregard. I went back and re-wiped. Everything is working now. BTW, been using SOS since I first rooted the phone last year. Can’t even begin to tell you how much better your ROM is compared to the bunk that Sprint gives us. Keep up the great work! Always looking forward to see what you dish up next! Also, if you are ever looking for a mirror, I have a few servers running in NY that I’d be happy to spare some space. Not sure how much use it would be, but the offer is there.

      April 19, 2012 at 11:20 AM

  21. Hey, tried twice to install sosX. All works fine for about 5min then sms constantsly crashes. Any ideas?

    April 21, 2012 at 6:30 PM

    • How does it crash? Have you tried wiping data for MMS?

      April 25, 2012 at 11:14 AM

  22. What you guys do is insane its so far beyond Cyanogenmod and every time I install your rom I get more impressed than the last time

Having issues installing fixes with my PC …. it wont let me right click in the rom file to paste the fix files ….. but once i get out of it i can right click ….. any ideas ?

    April 22, 2012 at 3:15 PM

    • DO NOT UNZIP THE ROM. IT WILL BREAK IT! Use the program 7-zip to edit the .zip file. Then just drag, drop, overwrite.

      April 25, 2012 at 11:13 AM

  24. Sway

So I’m trying to zip the new rom folder with the hot fixes in it, but it’s giving me the following error:

    Install from sdcard…
    Finding update package…
    Opening update package…
    Installing update…
    E:Can’t find update script

When copying files from hot fix 5 do we replace the Meta-INF or just copy the 2 other files? If I try to copy all three files it asks me if I want to replace the already existing Meta-INF file. Thanks

    April 25, 2012 at 7:19 AM

    • You do want to replace META-INF. That’s where the aroma-config and updater-script files are located 😉

Sup swagstr, how do we know which files need to be deleted beforehand and which we can just copy over?

In your video you said that the first needs to be deleted, but the second didnt. How do we figure this out?

view finder in camera, and bar code scanner doesnt work, video playback is a whitescreen also. please help

    May 4, 2012 at 2:39 PM

    • That ain’t normal. Try reflashing.

      May 9, 2012 at 10:07 PM

      • steketet@gmail.com

I think it was a kernel issue, I switched to a different kernel prior to reflashing and everything started to work.

        May 10, 2012 at 8:19 AM

      • That’s good.

        May 31, 2012 at 3:06 PM

I just upgraded from 1.0.9.8 ( my first and only ROM) to 2.0 9.4) I was having lots of radio problems . Gmail was not syncing the last few weeks…How do I know when I need to update for radios? What updates should I be doing through the HTC/ Sprint menu? Thanks.

    May 14, 2012 at 9:01 PM

    • My Gmail doesn’t sync all the time either, it’s the app. Clear data, reboot, it takes a couple hours but it should sync again. May have to do this every two weeks or so.

Search for the latest radios to apply. You can update PRL and Profile through software update.

      May 16, 2012 at 6:55 AM

Hey, I just installed the SOS N rom. Do I need to install the hotfix for it or no? I actually tried installing the hotfix 5 and after its done, the screen just gets stuck on the white htc evo screen at start up. I tried it without installing the hotfix 5 and it went through but after the phone starts up, it force closes the status bar and that notice pops up over and over again. How do I fix this?

Also, how to get that clock that you have up in the pictures for the SoS n rom and that lock screen? Thanks!

    May 16, 2012 at 5:37 PM

  41. Just so I have this straight…SOS X/N only needs hotfix 5? I installed it yesterday with the EAP before ready all the comments however I followed the video instructions. I’m experiencing multiple force closed apps (Google Voice, GetJar, Pandora, Shazam) on reboot and launch. Any suggestions?

    May 18, 2012 at 5:35 AM

  42. I just fresh installed SOS X/N with the EAP. I like the ROM however I’m experiencing several applications force closing (Google Voice, GetJar, Pandora). Is anyone else seeing the same thing?

    May 18, 2012 at 5:50 AM

    • Just flash the new update (2.0.9.7) when it releases later tonight.

      May 18, 2012 at 6:48 PM

      • dean3811

        What happened to this update??

        May 23, 2012 at 12:21 PM

      • Whoops! Spoke too soon on that one! It has been released now. (Well worth the wait).

        May 31, 2012 at 3:16 PM

    • I think there’s something wrong with the EAP. I deleted and reinstalled Google Voice and Pandora from the market and both are working fine now. Overall I like this ROM. I’m seeing much better battery performance and speed since switch from the stock ROM. I believe there is true swag on my phone now. Thnx

      May 18, 2012 at 7:54 PM

      • EAP is hella old. I would recommend not using it anymore.

I am having a problem with my EVO. When I dial a phone number, the phone goes into “car mode enabled” . When I receive a call, the speaker comes on to? Any ideas?

    May 27, 2012 at 6:04 PM

    • weaselorlando

After searching, looks like a hardware problem with my usb port. Thnks

      May 27, 2012 at 6:37 PM

      • weaselorlando

any quick help with getting back to stock and taking the phone into Sprint.

        May 27, 2012 at 6:45 PM

      • dean3811

You can download the no dock app from the market and your problem should be gone. I had the same issue.
